Report from Phil Thorpe
Bournemouth Electric 2
Dillon King 2
Portland United Res 1
Ivor DA Costa
Bournemouth Electric welcomed Portland Unit Res to Broadway Park on a cold though sunny afternoon.
Electric looking to maintain their unbeaten run fired out of the blocks and immediately put Portland on the back foot. The busiest man on the park was the Portland stopper Andrew Ennals, who single handedly kept Electric at bay. He was quick off his line to thwart King early on and again when the forward was clean through. A mixture of wasted chances and poor finishing along with Ennals stubborn resistance kept the game at 0-0 until the 40th min when good work from Matt Charalambous opened up the Portland defence for Dillon King to fire home.
The start of the second half started by following the first half with Electric pressing the game. Electric paid the price for pressing a little to far on the 52 min when the lively Da Costa who to be fair had shown his pedigree in the first halve with a couple of threatening runs found space on the left cutting in to the box evaded a few tackles and placed his shot in to the RH corner of the net to draw level. Portland then enjoyed a brief moment of possession before the game settled back into the attacking play of Electric. It was one of these attacks that put Electric in front when Flachi got down the RH, his low cross being forced in at the near post by Dillon King on the 62 min.Ennals continued to frustrate the Electric forwards, some of their finishing caused more damage to surrounding property than storm Goretti.
The game continued, Portland's stubborn resistance stood firm, and just before the final whistle Walsh brought a smart save from Phillips denying Portland a point, to be fair which they probably deserved.
