A blistering start from Holt saw their home game with Gillingham Town effectively over as a contest after just 10 minutes. Attacking the clubhouse end, the home side went 1 up after 3 minutes, with Ben Hands sweeping home after an Alastair Williams header had come back off the crossbar. Just 5 minutes later, Daniel Naish made it 2 with a deflected effort coming after some great work on the left from Billy Bradley. Just a minute later, Jack Foden made it a debut to remember firing in off the crossbar from 20 yards to put the home side 3 up. Holt continued to dominate, with a dipping volley from George Ashby crashing off the post. Billy Bradley’s sin bin was the only other point of note before the referee drew the first half to a close.

Holt carried on where they left off after the break, with a George Ashby freekick on 57 minutes evading everyone to make it 4-0. A rare foray forward from Gillingham gave them a glimmer of hope 2 minutes later, with Grady Critall slamming home to make it 4-1. But that was as good as it got for the visitors, as Holt reasserted control with super sub Bryce Banfield netting a hatrick which began with his first touch, turning home an in swinging corner. His second followed an audacious 50 yard attempt from right back Chris Manners which crashed off the bar. Bryce got his 3rd and Holt’s 8th swivelling to score low after a deft George Ashby lob had put Holt 7-1 in front.
