Portland United Reserves 1–3 Bournemouth Electric
Bournemouth Electric secured a deserved away victory against Portland United Reserves, running out 3–1 winners at Portland.
The visitors made an early breakthrough in the 4th minute. A well-delivered corner caused confusion in the Portland penalty area, with both the defence and home goalkeeper unable to clear their lines. The loose ball fell kindly to the Bournemouth striker, who calmly finished to give his side an early advantage.
Portland worked hard to regain composure, and for much of the first half possession was evenly shared. However, Bournemouth struck again in the 34th minute with a well-taken goal to double their lead, sending the visitors into the interval 2–0 ahead.
The second half saw Portland show greater urgency, creating several chances but failing to convert. Their persistence was finally rewarded in the 89th minute when Michael Powell found the net, giving the home side late hope.
Any thoughts of a comeback were quickly extinguished, though, as Bournemouth held their nerve and responded in injury time with a third goal to seal the result.
The match ended 3–1 to Bournemouth Electric, a scoreline that reflected their overall performance. The defeat sees Portland United Reserves drop to 16th place in the league
