Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

Only one place to start today ......

Over 200 attended Blandford United v Bournemouth Electric at Park Road as both sides paid their respects before the kick off to Frank Webber who sadly passed away last weekend, his beloved Royals winning the game 2-1 with goals from Reuben Stanley & a George Coleman penalty.

Elsewhere in the League a minutes applause was impeccably observed as a mark of respect to Frank at ALL League & Cup games played ......

Bridport Reserves beat Holt United 2-1 at St Marys with both Bees goals scored by Riley Weedon with Jack Satterley scoring for the Bulls. Cobham Sports made the short trip to Wimborne where they defeated their hosts Wimborne Town Reserves 4-0 with goals from Dan Brown, Amechie Eze-Sunday, Ellis George & Charlie Harries.

SUPPLEMENTARY CUP

GROUP B
Swanage welcomed League Champions Bournemouth Sports to Days Park with the Swans winning 2-1 to secure the points, scoring for the hosts were Will Pryor & Josh Titley with Tom White replying for Sports.

GROUP C
With Blandford United FC & Hamworthy Recreation FC Reserves both withdrawing from the Competition, todays Dorchester Sports v Westland Sports match was in effect a winner takes all clash at the Avenue, and it was the hosts who edged a tight game 1-0 courtesy of an Alex Godfrey goal.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
