Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

8 Games played today ......

Only 1 place to start as Bournemouth Sports moved top of the table after defeating previously unbeaten Dorchester Sports 4-1 at the Avenue Stadium, scoring for the visitors were Taylor Webb, James Bergin [x2] & Sam Darlow, scoring the hosts consolation was Alex Godfrey. Bournemouth Electric picked up an impressive 3-2 win at home against Blandford United, scoring for the hosts were Alister Williams, Dillon King & Matt Charalamous, replying for the Royals were Elliott Manson from the Penalty spot & Grant Cormack. Westland Sports beat Hamworthy United Reserves 5-1 at Alvington scoring for the home side were Josh Payne, Tom Frampton, Jamie Thompson, Steve Ormrod & Malik Kamal with Reece Dilling scoring for the Hammers late on. A Lennon Claydon goal was the difference as Cobham Sports beat close neighbours Hamworthy Recreation Reserves 1-0 at home. Poole Borough picked up a 1-0 win at Turlin Moor courtesy of a late OG from visitors Portland United Reserves. Sherborne Town Reserves were another side to win 1-0 this afternoon as they beat hosts Swanage Town & Herston in the Purbeck, scoring their all important goal was Alec Thomas. Holt United welcomed Bridport Reserves to Petersham Lane with the Bulls beating the Bees 4-0 courtesy of braces from Sam Bennett & Ali Garard. Finally there was a 7 goal thriller at the New Cuthbury as Balti Sports beat hosts Wimborne Town Reserves 4-3. Louis Gear, Charlie Mussendon, Harry Weaver & Henri Cox scored for the visitors with Declan Mussendo [x2] & Callum Clarke scoring for the hosts.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
