Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

Remarkably we saw all 8 games go ahead this afternoon despite the wet weather of late ....

Westland Sports took over at the top of the table after a 4-1 win at Alvington against Dorchester Sports, scoring for the hosts were Steve Ormrod, Phil Ormrod & Korey Andrews with a brace, replying for the visitors was Sol Roche. Bournemouth Sports and Holt United played out a 3-3 draw at Chapel Gate, scoring for Sports were Jack Voisey, Jamie Trimble & James Bergin with Sam Bennet & a brace from George Lane for the Bulls. Portland United Reserves returned to winning ways after a 3-2 win at home against Sherborne Town Reserves with Sanchez Baker, Matt Chambers & David Bowmaster scoring for the Blues with Tom Beeson & Alfie Calway replying for the visitors. Blandford United courtesy of goals from Mark Ford accounted for Swanage Town & Herston 2-0 at Park Road, meanwhile at the College Hamworthy Recreation Reserves handed hosts Balti Sports a lesson as they won 6-0 with goals from Charlie Harries [x3] Matt Kesse [x2] & Brad Hill. Cobham Sports ran out 4-0 winners against Bridport Reserves at home with goals from Josh Buck [x2] Chris Manners & Dan Brown. Biggest winners on the day were Bournemouth Electric who beat Poole Borough 7-2 at home, scoring for the hosts were Matt Charalamous [x3] Dillon King. Scott Joyce, Alaister Williams & Sebastian Spencer-Perkins, replying for the Hornets were Sam White & Connor Jevon. Finally Hamworthy United Reserves & Wimborne Town Reserves drew 1-1 at the County Ground, scoring for the hosts was Leo Demira with Charlie Martin scoring for the visitors.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
