Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

8 games played today and despite IT issues at FA Full Time, ALL the results are now recorded ......

Dorchester Sports remain in pole position in the table, but needed another late goal to secure a point after an entertaining 4-4 draw with Wimborne Reserves, scoring for the visitors were Harry Baker [x2] Max Patterson & Callum Clarke with Alex Godfrey [x2] Josh Leake & Toby Kelly. Bournemouth Sports still remain unbeaten and showed their title credentials by winning 3-2 at Park Road against Blandford United, scoring for the Chapel Gate outfit were James Bergin [x2] & Sam Darlow with the Royals replying through a Steve Smith Penalty & an OG. Bournemouth Electric continued their surge up the table, this time after a 7-2 home win against Balti Sports, scoring for the hosts were Josh Flachi [x3] Dillon King, Alaister Williams, Adejosi Abraham & William Cooper with Charlie Mussendon & Harry Weaver scoring for Balti. Cobham Sports picked up 3 deserved points after an impressive 5-2 win at Petersham Lane against hosts Holt United, scoring for Cobham were Dan Kelly, Ellis George, Dan Brown, Amechie Eze-Sunday & Chris Manners with George Lane & River Smith scoring for the Bulls, meanwhile at Magna Road, Hamworthy Recreation Reserves won a 7 goal thriller 4-3, coming from 3-1 down to beat visitors Poole Borough, scoring for the hosts were Curtis Lane [x2] Bryce Banfield & Ash Boys with the Borough goals scored by Shane Barnaby, Zac Seal & Christian Bond. Westland Sports travelled to West Dorset and defeated hosts Bridport Reserves 3-0 at St Mary's with Malik Kamal [2x] & Phil Ormrod both scoring for Sports, another high scoring game was at the Camp & Satherley Stadium as Swanage T&H beat hosts Portland United Reserves 5-3 scoring for the Swans were Marcus Smith [2x] Kelson Pollard, Cody Moore & Albie Turner with Riley Greenwood, Ryan Mckechnie & Crouch replying for the Blues. Finally to, Raleigh Grove where goals went missing as Sherborne Town Reserves & Hamworthy United Reserves played out a 0-0 stalemate.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
