Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

LEAGUE.

Bournemouth Sports remain top of the table after a 4-1 win at Chapel Gate against Bridport Reserves who led 1-0 at half time courtesy of a Stan Woodhouse only for the hosts to hit back with goals from Sam Darlow [x2] Jack Voisey & Gabriel Spennato. Cobham Sports and Blandford United played out an entertaining 0-0 draw at Merley Park. Dorchester Sports comfortably won 5-0 at the Avenue Stadium against Hamworthy United Reserves with the Sports goals coming from Toby Kelly, Alex Godfrey, Sam Poole [x2] & Dan Sheehy, Swanage picked a deserved 3 points on the road as they beat hosts Sherborne Town Reserves 1-0, scoring for the Swans in the second half was Albie Turner. Westland Sports were another side to win on the road as they beat Poole Borough 4-1 at Turlin Moor, scoring for Sports were Jamie Green, Harvey Wrow, Steve Ormrod & Malik Kamal. Replying for the hosts was Levi Middlewick. Finally their was an 8 goal fest at the Camp & Satherley as hosts Portland United Reserves drew 4-4 with Balti Sports. Scoring for the hosts were Ryan Mckechnie [x2] Josh Camp & ???? replying for Balti were Charlie Mussenden, Jon Winning & Matt Harvey [x2].

DORSET SENIOR TROPHY

Hamworthy Recreation Reserves progressed through after a 3-1 win at Magna Road against Holt United, scoring for the hosts were Archie Whitfield, Bryce Banfield & Curtis Lane with Ben Le Bow scoring for the Bulls.

HAMPSHIRE SATURDAY TROPHY

Bournemouth Electric bowed out of the Competition after losing 2-0 at home against Whitecroft & Barton.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
