Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

Unbeaten Bournemouth Electric FC travelled to Petersham Lane to play Holt United FC who boasted a 100% record, however Electric tamed to Bulls beating them 5-1 Scoring for the visitors were Kareem Solomon, Jackson Kavita, Oliver Bird and a brace from Matthew Charalambous, 1 from the penalty spot. Scoring for the Bulls was George Lane who also had Levi Middlewick sent off. Meanwhile at Chapel Gate, Bournemouth Sports FC beat Poole Borough FC with goals in each half from Dan Hayward & Tommy White.

LEAGUE CUP - 1st Round

On Tuesday night, holders Cobham Sports FC began their defence of the Cup with a resounding 7-0 win at Potterne Park against Verwood Town FC, scoring for Sports were Chris Manners, Callum Perry, Daniel Lindenberg, Joe Wood, Sam Lench, Alfie O'Connell & Ellis George. In round 2, they will host Bournemouth Sports FC - [Date TBA]
On Wednesday night, Sherborne Town FC Reserves welcomed Hamworthy United FC Reserves to Raleigh Grove for the 2nd time in 4 days, and it was another win for the Zebras as they progressed through to face Hamworthy Recreation FC reserves in the next round away, after a 3-1 win. Scoring for the hosts were Henry Lawrence-Napier, Corey Calway & Ash Guppy with Lionel Demira scoring for the Hammers.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
