Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

Cobham Sports FC remain unbeaten but lost their 100% record as they drew 1-1 with Dorchester Sports FC at Merley Park. Ellis George gave the hosts an early lead only to be pegged back by Callum Streamer's 2nd half strike, hard on their heels are Bournemouth Electric FC who won again, this time defeating visitors Balti Sports FC 4-2, scoring for the hosts were Oliver Bird, Matthew Charalambous, Kareem Soliman & Joshua Reavenall-Nuete, replying for Sports were Ryan McKechnie & Jake Walker. Holt United FC returned to winning ways after beating Sherborne Town FC Reserves 2-0 at Petersham Lane with both goals courtesy of Josh Buck. Bournemouth Sports FC thumped Wimborne Town FC Reserves 7-2 at Chapel Gate with Taylor Webb [x3] Dan Hayward, Madison Wilkins [P] Tommy White & Sam Bennett all scoring with Town's consolations from Kester Wilson & James Storey. There were wins on the road for both Blandford United FC & Hamworthy United FC Reserves as the Royals won 3-1 at Portland United FC Reserves with goals from Dan Kelly & a brace from Elliott Manson with Kai Kilcoyne scoring for the hosts, meanwhile the Hammers won 3-2 at Gillingham Town FC with goals from James Cherrett, Calden Barton & Steven Mackay with ????? scoring for the hosts. Verwood Town FC had to settle for a 2-2 draw at Potterne Park against Bridport FC Reserves this after being 2-0 up through goals from Nathan Gray & Connor Gil only for the Bees to sting them with a comeback courtesy of Noah House & Callum Arnold goals. Another game to end in draw was in the Purbeck where hosts Swanage Town & Herston FC drew 0-0 with Hamworthy Recreation FC Reserves. Finally to Alvington where hosts Westland Sports picked up their 1st win and points of the season after 1 5-0 win against Poole Borough FC who now slip to the bottom of the table, scoring for the hosts were Joshua John, Luca Martin, Malik Kamal, Edward How & Steve Ormrod.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
