Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

LEAGUE

A full set of fixtures today with Blandford United maintaing top spot as they beat Bridport Res 6-3 in West Dorset although they didn't have it all their own way going in 3-3 at the break. Scoring for the Royals were Mark Ford (x3) Logan Laird, George Coleman & Elliott Manson, scoring for the Bees were Riley Weedon, Kieron Coombes & Josh Baker. Two of leading chasers met at Petersham Lane with Holt United beating Sturminster Newton 2-0 with goals from Kyle John-Clement & Jamie Power. The Ridgeway Derby finished all square as Dorchester Sports drew 2-2 with Portland United Reserves, scoring for the hosts were Todd Coombes & Joel Hewitt with Josh Camp scoring a brace for the Blues. Merley CS beat Bournemouth Sports 3-1 at home with goals from Edward Bignall & Scott Walters (x2) with Sam Darlow scoring the visitors consolation. Poole Borough hit basement dwellers Sturminster Marshall for 7 at Turlin Moor as they won 7-0 with goals from Dan Mirto (x2) Kieron Denty (x2) Jack Foden, Sam White & an OG. Westland Sports won a tight encounter at Alvington against Balti Sports 1-0 with their crucial winner coming from Ollie Crisp. Sherborne Town Reserves & Swanage T&H played out an entertaining 2-2 draw at Raleigh Grove with Harry Boulton & Aaron Phillips scoring for the Zebras with Cody Moore scoring a brace for the Swans. In the late game at the County Ground, Hamworthy United Reserves welcomed Wimborne Town Reserves with the visitors moving up into 2nd spot after a comfortable 5-0 win, scoring for the visitors were Luke Sheehy (x3) Jack Hoey & Addwell Chipangura.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
