Introduction to the;

Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.

The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.

 

The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.

The  DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

LEAGUE
Westland Sports maintained pole position after their 6-1 win at Alvington against Hamworthy United Reserves, scoring for the hosts were Phil Ormrod x2, Steve Ormrod x2, Malik Kamal & Luca Martin, replying with the Hammers consolation was Joe Cornick. Sturminster Newton welcomed Sherborne Town Reserves to Barnetts field with the Zebras securing a creditable 1-1 draw, Nick Thomson put the hosts ahead only for Nick Jacobs to restore parity. Merley Cobham Sports welcomed Bridport Reserves to Merley Park with the hosts running our comfortable 4-1 winners, scoring for the hosts were Ellis George, Matt Grove Daniel Reeks & an OG, replying for the Bees was Callum Arnold from the penalty spot. Blandford United needed to come from behind as they won 3-1 at Cranford Avenue against hosts Balti Sports, Sam Nicholls had given Balti the lead but 2nd half goals from Elliott Manson, Steve Smith & Sam Watson secured the points for the Royals. Sturminster Marshall beat Poole Borough 1-0 at home courtesy of a Jack Geddes goal with the hosts having to play the 2nd half with 10 men after Luke Goddard saw Red just before the break. Dorchester Sports and Shaftesbury Reserves played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Avenue, scoring for the hosts were Elliott Rossiter, Oli Lowes & Owen Peart, with Tyler Forbes, Jake Forbes & Ollie Brown scoring for the Rockies. Bournemouth Sports kept the pressure on those above with an 5-3 win at Swanage T&H, scoring for the visitors were Karol Borowski, Jack Voisey x2, Jamie Trimble & Matt Gane with the Swans goals coming from Paul Best, Charlie Brassington from the spot & Jack Goldsack.

LEAGUE CUP
Holt United booked a semi final visit to Sturminster Newton after their 3-1 win at Petersham Lane against Wimborne Town Reserves, scoring for the Bulls were Ali Garard, Kyle John- Clement & Connor Bent. Replying for Wimborne was Luke Sheehy.

On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football. 

In summary

  • From August outdoor competitive football can commence e.g for pre-season friendlies

  • From September grassroots leagues can commence competitions

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.

To All Club Secretaries:

Having reviewed what was said at the recent AGM, please can I confirm that the club secretaries should register their players on the Whole Game System.  At the same time the player registration form(s) should either be scanned across to me or a hard copy be posted to me so that I can complete the registration process.

Please excuse the confusion by comment at the AGM.
