Introduction to the;
Dorset Premier Football League
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.

LEAGUE
Bournemouth Sports had the chance to move up in the table and despite leading at Sturminster Marshall they eventually succumbed 3-2 to their hosts who scored through Jack Hepburn, Jordan Fisk & Callum Whitelaw, replying for Sports were Alex Hancox & Jamie Trimble. Hamworthy United Reserves welcomed bottom placed Shaftesbury Reserves to the Sunseekers International County Ground with the Hammers hammering their visitors 8-0, scoring for the hosts were Kai McCrow x4, Neemo Nixon x2, Matt Renie & Hamza Baccali. Meanwhile at Turlin Moor, Poole Borough and Balti Sports played out a 0-0 draw. Bridport Reserves welcomed Sherborne Town Reserves to St Marys with the visitors winning 4-1, this after trailing to a Kieron Coombes goal at half time, scoring the Zebras 2nd half goals were Aaron Binding x2 & Nicholas Jacobs. Another side to win today after trailing 2-0 were Holt United who eventually beat Portland United Reserves 3-2 at Petersham Lane, the Blues took a 2-0 half time lead courtesy of Josh Camp & a Troy Walbridge penalty only for the Bulls to come stampeding back in the 2nd half with strikes from Ben Sullivan, Corey Elwick & Sonny Wilkinson. Dorchester Sports picked up a confidence boosting win away at Swanage Town & Herston after a Curtis Hansford strike gave them a narrow 1-0 win in the Purbecks.
DORSET SENIOR TROPHY - Semi Finals
Holders Sturminster Newton progressed through to this seasons final after a hard fought 2-1 win against Merley Cobham Sports, trailing to Cobham's Matt Groves penalty strike early in the 2nd half, it took to late goals in the last 4 minutes from George Coleman & Buddy O Shea to put the hosts through. Meeting them in the Final will be Wimborne Town Reserves who came from behind to beat Blandford United 3-2 at the New Cuthbury. Scoring for the hosts were Liam Nixon with a brace & Brad Waters, whilst scoring for the Royals were Dan Holland & Sam Watson from the penalty spot.
On 18 July 2020 the FA issued guidelines for the return of outdoor competitive grassroots football.

The DPL Management Committee will be meeting by the end of this coming week to discuss the situation with a proposed Club Secretaries meeting by the end of July.
