In tonight’s only game to escape the poor weather, Sturminster Newton welcomed Westland Sports to Barnett’s Field, in a top of the table clash. The hosts will be pleased the game got the go ahead as they ran out convincing 4-1 winners to close the gap on their opponents to just 1 point. Scoring for the hosts were Nick Hewitt x2, George Coleman & Aaron Lane-Laney, replying with Sports consolation was Luca Martin.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
