Unfortunately, the Dorset Premier League lost 2-0 to Thames Valley Premier League this afternoon in the Interleague Cup. We hope to put a full report of the game in this week's DPL Dispatch.
In our local games Blandford Utd used their game in hand over nearest rivals, Wimborne Town Reserves, to move 6 points clear at the top of the table by a 1-0 win over Sherborne Town Reserves.
Westland Sports away to Balti Sports won by a 2-4 scoreline to move above their hosts in the table. In another away win this afternoon Merley Cobham Sports away to Bridport Reserves finished 0-2. Dorchester Sports at home to Sturminster Marshall won by 16 goals to nil.
In the only draw of the day Portland Utd Reserves as hosts to Bournemouth Sports saw a 4-4 scoreline. In the 3pm kick off Hamworthy Utd Reserves were the 2-0 winners at home to Holt Utd.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
