LEAGUE CUP - SEMI FINAL
Cup Holders Sturminster Newton welcomed Blandford United to Barnetts Field for this eagerly anticipated Semi Final in this season's competition, with the hosts inflicting the "Royals" 1st defeat of the season in ALL Competitions 1-0 courtesy of a 1st half goal from Elliott Bevis, so ending the visitors "Triple" aspirations.
Sturminster Newton will have to wait and see who they will face in this season's final as Holt United v Wimborne Town Reserves was Postponed due to a Waterlogged Pitch with a new date for the tie to be confirmed.
LEAGUE
Only 3 games were possible today, Merley CS were the big winners as they beat Balti Sports 8-1 at home with their goals scored by Adam Hall (x3) Callum Perry (x2) Amechi Eze-Sunday, Awwal Abubakar & Dan Edwards with Jack Summers netting Balti's consolation. Hamworthy United Reserves won 5-0 at Sturminster Marshall with Finlay West, Leo Demira (x2) Jack Frankland & Hamza Bakkali all scoring for the "Hammers" meanwhile at Turlin Moor a Harrison Foster 2nd half goal was the difference at Westland Sports beat hosts Poole Borough 1-0.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
