Dorchester Sports made it 5 wins from 5 as they travelled to the Purbeck to face hosts Swanage Town & Herston with Sports winner coming courtesy of Todd Coombes in the 1st half. Bournemouth Sports continued their fine start to the season as they travelled to Cranford Avenue to face hosts Balti Sports and return East with all 3 points after a deserved 4-1 win, scoring for the visitors were Jamie Trimble [x2] Max Norris & Sam Darlow, scoring for the hosts was Danny Andrews. Cobham Sports hammered the "Hammers" of Hamworthy United Reserves at Merley Park 5-0 with Amechi Eze-Sunday hitting a hat trick with further goals from Joshua Buck and an OG. Meanwhile at St Marys, a very early Steff Stavrianos goal was the difference as Bridport Reserves beat Wimborne Town Reserves 1-0 to claim their 1st win of the season. Westland Sports made the long trip east to face Bournemouth Electric and picked a narrow 1-0 win with Ryan Thurgood getting their winner.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
