It had to happen eventually ....... after a superb unbeaten run of 27 League Games, Hamworthy United Reserves tamed the "Bulls" of Holt United by beating them 5-2 at Petersham Lane this evening and in doing so leapfrogged them at the top of the table, scoring for the "Hammers" in their impressive win were Remus Nixon (x3) Neemo Nixon & Lennon Claydon, replying for the hosts were Jamie Power & Scott Bungay. Meanwhile, at Cranford Avenue, Balti Sports & Portland Utd Reserves played out an entertaining 2-2 draw, scoring for the hosts were Finlay Jarvis & Aston Butcher, replying for the "Blues" were Tom Butcher & Troy Walbridge. In the late game, Shaftesbury Reserves welcomed Westland Sports to Cochrams and it was the "Rockies" who prevailed winning 3-2, scoring for the hosts were Cameron McMonagle with a brace including a penalty & Adam Hall, replying for the visitors were Duncan McCabe who also hit a brace including a penalty.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
