Blandford United take over at the top of the table this evening after their impressive 4-0 win at the Avenue stadium against hosts Dorchester Sports, scoring for the "Royals" were Steve Smith with a Penalty, Reuben Stanley, George Coleman & Elliott Manson, another side to secure a decent away win were Merley Cobham Sports who well and truly dented the "Hammers" of Hamworthy United Reserves by beating them 5-0 at the County Ground, scoring for MCS were James Cherrett, Luke Stone with a Penalty, Awwal Abubakar with a brace & Curtis Darby. Another side to win on the road tonight were Westland Sports who got a much needed win in West Dorset as they beat host Bridport Reserves 2-0 with both their goals coming from Josh Payne. In the remaining game, Shaftesbury Reserves brat Balti Sports 3-0 at Cochrams, scoring for the "Rockies" were Curtis Lane with a brace & Adam Hall.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
