Weather Conditions 5 DPL 4 .........
It was a narrow win today for the poor conditions experienced at 5 of our Scheduled games, with 3 games being called off by the match referees on arrival at grounds, pitch conditions, player safety and the forecasted worsening weather conditions throughout the afternoon today played a huge part in the decision making.
Of the 4 games that did take place, Dorchester Sports FC beat Swanage Town & Herston FC 2-0 at the Avenue Stadium with both Sport's goals coming in the 1st half from, Brin Doyle & Shaun Bessant, just across the ridgeway, Balti Sports FC welcomed close neighbours Portland United FC Reserves to the College with the Blues being handed a lesson as the hosts ran out convincing 7-1 winners, scoring for Sports were Troy Walbridge [x3] Matt Chambers, Matt Harvey, Callum Allison & Jonny Jay Rowe, replying for the Islanders was Max Fisher. Bournemouth Sports FC picked up a decent 3-1 win on the road at Potterne Park against hosts Verwood Town FC, scoring for the visitors were Max Norris & a brace from Rob Howard with ????? scoring for the hosts, finally their was a 7 goal thriller eventually edged 4-3 to Bournemouth Electric FC at Wimborne Town FC Reserves, scoring for Electric were Oliver Bird [x2] & Nassim Meddah [x2] replying for Town were Kester Wilson, Taylor Broadley & Maksym Boichuk.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
