League leaders Blandford United won for the 10th time this season as they comfortably beat near neighbours Shaftesbury Res at Cochrams 6-0, to still remain unbeaten after 12 games, scoring for the Royals were Elliot Manson, Niall Dixon, Ryan Horwood, Tyler Rutten, Mark Ford & George Coleman. Meanwhile at St Mary's, Bridport Res welcomed Portland Utd Res and with the score 1-0 to the visitors courtesy of a Josh Camp 1st half goal, in the 71st minute, the lights went out, thankfully after a 20 minute delay the hosts got them working again .... and that's the way the game ended with the Blues winning 1-0.
The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2022/2023 Season will be contested by 18 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and South Somerset, 9 of which have Floodlights and all 18 have an AED device in or adjacent to their facility.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League is now classed as a Regional NLS Feeder League that sits just outside the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's England Football Accredited League Status.
