FA INTER LEAGUE CUP - Rnd 1
Thames Valley PL 2 - 5 Dorset Premier Football League
The DPL made it through to the Quarter Finals after this well deserved win with the teams excellent 2nd half performance seeing them home. Played at Dorchester Town FC due to the hosts not able to secure a venue in their own Locality despite their best efforts, the sunshine came out as the game kicked off. The1st meaningful effort came from the DPL's Dan Sheehy whose effort was saved comfortably. On 20 minutes Sheehy saw another shot well saved down low to his right by Jack North in the TVPL goal. The hosts saw a lot of possession and Ryan Farmer saw his effort well saved by Lucas Goad in the DPL goal, on 34 minutes TVPL took the lead when a corner was headed home by James Griffiths. The DPL regrouped and went in search of a leveller which duly came in the 45th minute with an exact carbon copy of the goal conceded when RYAN McKECHNIE headed home from a corner.
HT 1-1
With just 3 minutes played in the 2nd half the visitors took the lead when the TVPL keeper fumbled a cross allowing REUBEN STANLEY to poke home. In the 63rd minute North in the hosts goal atoned for his earlier error when superbly tipping over a rasping drive from Oliver Bird, with 20 minutes to go a TVPL free kick had to be scrambled clear and away to safety, North again then kept his side in it when producing another top save this time to deny Dan Sheehy. The DPL finally got their 3rd when following a decent counter attack, ALEX GODFREY tapped home in the 79th minute, just 1 minute later it was 4 as OLIVER BIRD converted after another strong team goal. To the hosts credit back they came and on 86 minutes they reduced the arrears, however any chance of a comeback were dashed 2 minutes later when TROY WALBRIDGE scored the DPL's 5th.
