Introduction to the;
Dorset Premier Football League

The league was formed in 1957 and was initially called the Dorset Football Combination League.
The 2019/2020 Season will be contested by 17 teams covering the entire county of Dorset and neighbouring Counties.
The objective of the League on its formation was to increase the standard of football in Dorset, an ideal that still holds true today as the League currently sits at Step 7 of the FA's National League System.
The DPL is proud to have been awarded it's FA Standard Charter League Status.
Statement from the DPL League Management Committee issued 21 September 2020

Following the decision by Corfe Castle FC to withdraw from the League due to the continuing Covid 19 Pandemic which has already beset them, The LMC wish to make an appeal to all players, officials and supporters of clubs in the Dorset Premier Football League concerning the need to remain Covid vigilant. A great many of our clubs, and the hard working volunteers at them, have made great efforts to ensure our games are staged in a safe manner for both participants and spectators, but the LMC remain concerned that not all have followed all the protocols & guidance, and further, we are concerned to see some players not following the rules – which are for their own safety.
The agreement negotiated between the FA and the Department for Culture Media and Sport means that the game of football is not considered a “close contact” by the social distancing regulations, as long as Clubs continue to fully implement their risk assessments. A failure to implement these risk assessments is likely to result in matches being postponed and players and spectators self-isolating, in line with Test and Trace guidance.
As COVID restrictions nationally become tighter, the footballing authorities are becoming increasingly aware of instances where players and spectators are stretching or even ignoring the guidance. Whilst the Clubs and the Leagues do not have the power of enforcement, the Police do have the power to fine individuals for persistent breaches of the guidance. Local councils may also be given extra powers to stop events and shut down parks if they are concerned about threats to public safety.
The Dorset Premier Football League has issued specific guidance to its Clubs, urging players and managers to lead by example, supporting Club volunteers to ensure matches are COVID safe. The League wishes to highlight the importance of a number of measures, including:
* Teams must follow the advice of the home sides Risk Assessment and ensure only the maximum number of players and support staff enter the changing room at any given time where applicable, Clubs Risk assessments should allow for a safe number based on the size of rooms and the 1 meter plus rule.
* If players have to car share they should do so with the same individuals on each occasion.
* Where minibuses are used, everyone should wear a face mask and use hand sanitiser before and after entry.
* Extra seating in technical areas should be provided to ensure the occupants remain at a safe distance from each other and spectators.
* Spectators must respect the rule of 6 and maintain social distancing at all times, inside and outside the clubhouse.
It is vitally important to stress that “Sport being exempt from the regulations” refers ONLY to whilst actually participating in the match, on the field of play – Players are NOT exempt from anything before or after matches!
Ian Beattie, the appointed DPL Covid-19 officer has offered to assist any club with their Covid-19 precautions by visiting on match days. Contact Ian by email Ian at ian.beattie623@gmail.com.
Finally – can we urge ALL Players, Officials & Supporters to renew your efforts, check your guidance and risk assessments, update them if necessary, and above all STAY VIGILANT – Not just for football matches to safely continue, but for the health of all in the football family, which includes many volunteers who may not be of the same age and health status as those that need to act in the best possible fashion.

5 Jan 2021 - An update for ‘non-elite’ football in England following latest COVID-19 restrictions
We note the UK Government’s announcement this evening with regards to the new national COVID-19 restrictions and lockdown. As a result, the impact on ‘non elite’ football in England will include the suspension of fixtures and training across the following, with immediate effect:
-
Steps three to six of the National League System (NLS)
-
Tiers three to seven of the Women’s Football Pyramid
-
Regional NLS feeder leagues
-
Barclays FA WSL Academy League (unless under elite status)
-
FA Girls Regional Talent Clubs (unless under elite status)
-
All indoor and outdoor youth and adult grassroots football, including under 18s (except organised outdoor football for disabled people which is allowed to continue)
-
Vitality Women’s FA Cup (which is currently classified as ‘non-elite’ at this stage in the competition)
It is extremely important that clubs, players, coaches, match officials, league officials, volunteers, parents, carers and facility providers adhere to the UK Government’s new national COVID-19 lockdown restrictions and we implore everyone to follow these.
Dialogue will continue with the Department for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport, leagues, competitions and County FAs and we will provide further updates for the 2020/21 Vitality Women’s FA Cup, Buildbase FA Vase and ‘non-elite’ football when relevant.
We would like to thank the football community once again for its hard work, resilience and understanding during such an incredibly challenging period for both the game and wider society.
DPL Update - 4 January 2021
A telephone conference was held over the weekend with the officers of the League to discuss the current situation and it has been decided with immediate effect to further SUSPEND the DPL until such time as the Government changes the current tier levels that cover our whole League to lower Tiering.
We have 4 sides currently in Tier 4 meaning they cannot play at present, and a further 3 sides, to date, who have expressed concern that the majority of their 1st team squads reside in Tier 4 and are therefore unable to play in Tier 3.
The League is still firmly committed to completing this season and we will do as much as we can to achieve this.
DPL Update - 23 December 2020
Following consultation with its 16 Member Clubs over the current COVID 19 situation, it has been decided by 9 - 7 to SUSPEND the League until the 4th January 2021 with Immediate effect.

Thames Valley PL 2 - 5 Dorset Premier Football League
The DPL made it through to the Quarter Finals after this well deserved win with the teams excellent 2nd half performance seeing them home. Played at Dorchester Town FC due to the hosts not able to secure a venue in their own Locality despite their best efforts, the sunshine came out as the game kicked off. The1st meaningful effort came from the DPL's Dan Sheehy whose effort was saved comfortably. On 20 minutes Sheehy saw another shot well saved down low to his right by Jack North in the TVPL goal. The hosts saw a lot of possession and Ryan Farmer saw his effort well saved by Lucas Goad in the DPL goal, on 34 minutes TVPL took the lead when a corner was headed home by James Griffiths. The DPL regrouped and went in search of a leveller which duly came in the 45th minute with an exact carbon copy of the goal conceded when RYAN McKECHNIE headed home from a corner.
HT 1-1
With just 3 minutes played in the 2nd half the visitors took the lead when the TVPL keeper fumbled a cross allowing REUBEN STANLEY to poke home. In the 63rd minute North in the hosts goal atoned for his earlier error when superbly tipping over a rasping drive from Oliver Bird, with 20 minutes to go a TVPL free kick had to be scrambled clear and away to safety, North again then kept his side in it when producing another top save this time to deny Dan Sheehy. The DPL finally got their 3rd when following a decent counter attack, ALEX GODFREY tapped home in the 79th minute, just 1 minute later it was 4 as OLIVER BIRD converted after another strong team goal. To the hosts credit back they came and on 86 minutes they reduced the arrears, however any chance of a comeback were dashed 2 minutes later when TROY WALBRIDGE scored the DPL's 5th.
